James P. Sawyer Iii

Asheville - James Pickney Sawyer III, 79, of 64 Beverly Road, died Wednesday, July 28, 2010.

Mr. Sawyer was born in Buncombe County and was a son of the late James Jr., and Mildred Teague Sawyer. He was a former resident of Baltimore City, Md., where he worked for the Department of Sanitation for 26 years and was a member of Grace United Methodist Church where he was also a choir member.

He is survived by his wife, Nadia Pumphrey Sawyer; a sister, Nancy Robinson and her husband, Eugene, of Baltimore City; and a brother, Eugene Sawyer of Camp Hill, Pa.

No local services are planned, and a private burial will be at Riverside Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Brian Center, Hendersonville.
