J. Paul Metcalf

Mars Hill - J. Paul Metcalf, 90, of 4564 Paint Fork Road., passed away Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at Madison Manor Nursing Center. He was a native and lifelong resident of Madison County and the son of the late Kenneth and Zerila Baird Metcalf. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Agnes Wallin Metcalf; infant son, Dwight Metcalf; and a twin brother, Ralph Metcalf. Paul was a member and Deacon at Paint Fork Baptist Church.

Surviving are his daughter, Paula Ammons (Doyle) of Mars Hill; son, Seth Metcalf (Cathy) of Mars Hill; grandchildren, Kenny Metcalf (fiancee, Renee Edwards), Katie Gault (Kris), Dennis Ammons (fiancee, Charlotte Clarke), Christopher Ammons (Brandy), Jonathan Ammons (Becky); 11 great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 11, 2010, at Paint Gap Baptist Church. The Revs. Stanley Peek, Marty

Parrott and Cecil Hopps will officiate. Burial will follow in the Tildon Metcalf Cemetery. Grandsons will serve at pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday prior to the service at the church.
