Ronald Radford Sr.
Asheville - Ronald Ron Radford Sr., 73, of 15 Lena Lane, died Saturday, February 6, 2010. Mr. Radford was born June 8, 1936 in Madison County and was a resident of Buncombe County for most of his life. He retired from Pepsi-Cola after 23 years of service and after his retirement he drove a school bus for Erwin for many years. He was a member and deacon of Faith Missionary Baptist Church. Preceding him in death were his parents, Grady E. and Clyde Cole Radford, as well as his loving wife, Eva Thorpe Radford who died in 1996. Surviving are his daughters, Shirley Jones and husband, Mitch, of Leicester and Carol Demick and husband, Shawn, of Asheville; son, Ronald Ronnie Radford Jr. and wife, Cyndi, of Leicester; sisters, Betty Hollifield of Leicester and Jean Honeycutt and husband, Rev. Joe Honeycutt, of Leicester; grandchildren, Matthew and Tyler Radford, Samantha, J.T. and Kristian Demick, Talia Lynn, Alycia Rivera, Brandon Hawkins and Candace Owenby; and six greatgrandchildren. The funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 10, 2010, in Faith Missionary Baptist Church, with the Rev. Breck Landreth officiating. Burial will be in Green Hills Cemetery, Asheville. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, where the body will remain until placed in the church one hour prior to the service. At other times the family will be at the home of Carol and Shawn Demick, 9 Lena Lane, Asheville.
