Elizabeth Ball Large

Mars Hill - Elizabeth Ball Large, 88, of 461 Banjo Branch Rd., passed away Monday, February 8, 2010, at John F. Keever Solace Center after a period of declining health. Elizabeth lived most of her life in Mars Hill and was the daughter of the late J. Q. and Gertrude Edwards Ball and is also preceded in death by three brothers, Quincy, Bud and Jim Ball; and one sister, Mildred Cruz. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Survivors include her loving husband of 67 years, William Large; daughters, Libby Rich (Ronald) of Mars Hill, Linda Dudley (Tony) of Mt. Airy; son, John Large (Martha) of Cross, S.C.; brothers, Joe Ball (Mary) of Candler and Phillip Ball (Fay) of Mars Hill; grandchildren, Kelly Reese (Jeff), Michael Cody (Tina), Matthew Cody (Beth), Karen Shuur (Mike), David Large, Jason Dudley (Lauren); and eight great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 10, 2010, in Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service. Burial will follow in Mars Hill Cemetery.

Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and at other times the family will be at the home of Libby and Ronald Rich, 651 Banjo Branch Rd., Mars Hill.
