Betty Sue Chapman Davis Edwards, 73, of 66 Dewey Avenue, passed away Sunday, Jan. 13, 2008, at Haywood Regional Medical Center.A life long resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Millard A. Chapman and the late May Christopher Chapman. She was the owner and operator of Betty's Beauty Shop and all of her clients held a special place in her heart. She was also a former employee of Champion Paper and American Enka Corporation. Betty was a devoted member of Church of God of Prophecy of Phillipsville for 61 years where she served as a Sunday School teacher, youth group leader, a member of the finance and stewardship committee, the benevolence committee and many other positions in her church. Her love for others was always evident in her daily life and her special caring concern for Nigeria Missions had played an important part in her life. Betty was a blessing to many people. Her life was centered around her church , her family and her many friends. She was a beautiful person who shall be deeply missed. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles V. Davis who passed away in 1996; brothers, James Chapman, Edward Chapman and Charles D. Chapman and her sisters, Ola Vickers and Gussie McCracken. Surviving are her husband, Horace D. Edwards; a daughter, Beth D. Ingle and her husband, Dale of Canton; a son, Terry L. Davis of Canton; grandchildren; Chad Murphy and his wife, Ondrea, Scott Murphy and his wife, April and Jamie Brindamour and her husband, Mike; great grandchildren, Hunter Murphy, Mason Brindamour and Garrett Brindamour; sisters, Flossie Geer of Rutherfordton, Katie Gibson of Clyde and Bertie Sanderlin of Canton; brothers, Jack Chapman of Canton and McKay Henson of Clyde; stepchildren; Terry D. Edwards and his wife, Julia of Huntington Beach, Calif., Timothy M. Edwards and his wife, Billie of Lundenberg, Pa. and Tina Conley and her husband, Mike of Richton Park, Ill.; seven step-grandchildren and 11 stepgreat grandchildren. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Church of God of Prophecy of Phillipsville with Pastor Rick Brogdon and also her former Pastor, Dr. Henry B. Grimes , Jr. officiating. Interment will be in Crawford / Ray Memorial Gardens, Clyde. Serving as pallbearers will be, Chad Murphy, Scott Murphy, Jamey Hughes, Adam Pressley, Aaron Jamison and Seth Irvin. The family will be receiving friends at the church from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. prior to the funeral service. The family would like to share a special word of thanks to Dr. Harry Lipham and the nursing staff of the 7th floor of Haywood Regional Medical Center for their loving care and concern given to Betty during her illness. Memorials may be made in Betty's memory to Church of God of Prophecy of Phillipsville/Building Fund, 860 Terrace Drive, Canton, NC 28716.
