Martin McCubbins

Weaverville – Martin McCubbins, 90, of Weaverville, died Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2006.

Mr. McCubbins was born Sept. 2, 1916, in Belmont, Ky., and lived most of his life in Oliver Springs, Tenn. He had been a resident of Buncombe County since 1995 and had worked as a barber since 1956. Mr. McCubbins served in the U.S. Army, 2nd Armored Division in the African Campaign during World War II.

He

was

preceded

in death by his wife, Onelda McCubbins, who died in 2005; brother, Frank McCubbins; and sister, Florence.

Surviving are his son, Doug McCubbins and his wife, Sarah Duval, of Weaverville.

The funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with the Rev. Worth Emory officiating.

The family will greet friends following the service.

Private graveside services will be held at Mount Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery in Oliver Springs, Tenn.
